Freeport High School Class of 2013 alumnus Alexander Lewis earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts of America last August just prior to his departure for Norwich University in Vermont. He hopes to become a U.S. naval officer after he completes his undergraduate degree.

Lewis, who flourished in the JROTC program at Freeport High School, was back in uniform at the school in December at the invitation of Maj. Donald Moore for the annual inspection of the NJROTC. He was also invited by the guidance department to speak to the current Freeport High School seniors about his experiences in college as part of the College Student Network program.

For Alexander's Eagle Scout project, he collected necessities such as clothes, shoes and toiletries for families in need. These items were sent to the Maxfield Park Children's Home in Kingston, Jamaica.
