Posted on 05/28/2014

The fifth- and sixth-grade music students at the Caroline G. Atkinson Intermediate School gave a rousing 90-minute performance for family and friends in their annual Spring Festival of the Arts at Freeport High School. The performance spotlighted the high level of talent and commitment to the performing arts found in Freeport.

The first part of the program, which included the mariachi band, fifth-grade chorus, and concert orchestra, featured seven pieces of music from a wide spectrum of genres. The sixth-grade portion of the event featured the select chorus, Atkinson chorus and concert band, whose crisp performances demonstrated their readiness for the middle school arts programs and beyond.

Many of the students belong to more than one musical ensemble, demonstrating their musical dexterity and enthusiasm for the performing arts.
