Posted on 05/28/2014

The John W. Dodd Middle School Drama Club staged the musical "Guys and Dolls" in the high school auditorium in a production that showcased the students' amazing talents.

Director/producer Robyn Workman and choreographer/musical director Vashti Burke worked with the students to master the unique rhythm and cadence of the show that is based on the stories of writer Damon Runyon and was put to music by composer/lyricist Frank Loesser.

This production featured Myles Carter as Nathan Detroit, Hailey Brown as Sarah Brown, Jada Blassingame as Miss Adelaide, Michael Desir as Sky Materson and Justin Acree as Nicely-Nicely Johnson.

The show captures a bygone era in New York City that was populated with characters who Runyon stylized with highly formal language mixed with the slang of the times.
