Elizabeth Gonzalez Portieles won the first fourth-grade spelling bee at Giblyn. Her victory earned her a trip to Hofstra University on Feb. 8 to compete against fourth- through eighth-graders across Long Island in the Regional Scripps Spelling Bee.
