Archer Celebrates Chinese New Year
Posted on 02/10/2016

Students at Archer celebrated the 2016 Chinese New Year - the Year of the Monkey - with a festive parade and Chinese-style lunch.<br <p="">The school's third- and fourth-grade students marched in the parade while displaying monkey-themed artwork they created and playing traditional instruments, such as handheld drums, to commemorate the special occasion. Kindergartners, first- and second-graders, with many wearing monkey hats and holding their own artwork, watched the upperclassmen march proudly. Later in the day, all students enjoyed foods native to China, and each received a fortune cookie to cap off the celebration.

Archer's Chinese New Year celebration served to not only educate students about the customs and richness of one of the world's largest populations, but also gave them the opportunity to showcase their artwork for their peers and teachers.
