Safety Town at Archer
Posted on 03/09/2016

Students at Archer Street learned about the benefits of physical activity and the importance of precautionary planning in a Safety Town event set up in the gymnasium.

Under the direction of physical education teacher Patricia Pohmer, students participated in a variety of activities at specialized stations, including basketball, bowling, miniature golf, hopscotch and scooter racing. At the Safety Town station, students learned about bicycle safety, the importance of helmets and remembering to be aware of their surroundings. The students also carried pedometers with them during the event to track their physical activity.

Students learned not only about activities they are able to participate in their town, at their school and with their peers, but also why safety always comes first.
