As part of its observance of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, the high school hosted seminars about the disease for its students.

The purpose of the assemblies, which were presented by members of the Love Heals Speakers Bureau nonprofit organization, was to continue educating students about the dangers of the disease and emphasizing the importance of safety and responsibility. Students learned many AIDS-related facts and also learned about many common misconceptions, including the difference between HIV and AIDS, how to prevent contracting HIV and the need for testing. Students also received red ribbons to display their support for the fight against AIDS and AIDS-related illnesses.
