Students at Dodd rang in the holiday season with a showcase of their remarkable artistic and musical skills in the annual Winter Showcase of Music Art. The festive program was held at the high school's Performing Arts Center, which was filled to capacity.

Directors Adam Rubin (Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble), Candice Mordhorst (Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra), Sherill Spruill (Mixed Chorus, Select Chorale, Vocal Tapestry) and Kathleen Alvarez (Mariachi) led their music groups in harmonious renditions of holiday classics. In addition, the works of art students, who created holiday-related pieces under the direction of faculty members Nicholas Alberti, Amy Bendel and Vanessa Mannanice, were on display for peers, family members and district staff members to enjoy.

The Seventh-Grade Orchestra performed "Out of the Winter" and "Burst!"; the Mixed Chorus performed "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "He is Born with Pat-A-Pan"; the Chamber Orchestra performed "Eine Kleine Bell Musik"; the Tapestry Ensemble performed "The Little Drummer Boy" and "White Winter Hymnal"; the Jazz Ensemble performed "El Tigre" and "Cantaloupe Island"; the Select Chorale performed "Betelehemu" and "Lo, How a Rose is Growing"; the Concert Band performed "Carpathia," "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" and "The Twelve Songs of Christmas"; Mariachi performed "El Gatito," "Los Machetes" and "Feliz Navidad"; and the Eighth-Grade Orchestra performed "Ships of Ireland," "Gauntlet" and "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24."

Dodd's Winter Showcase of Music Art served to display some of the incredible talents of students as a testament to the level of arts education they receive.
