Baumann Transportation Strike Update 11-14-17
The negotiations held today between Baumann Bus Company and its driver's union has not reached resolution and the strike is continuing. At this time, although we continue to work towards covering more bus routes, we will continue with our current plan of providing busing for Columbus and New Visons on a regular schedule with busing for Archer, Bayview and Giblyn at 15 minute delays.
We will continue with the extended building hours in all schools until the end of the strike.

Baumann Transportation Strike Update 11-13-17
In relation to an update on the bus strike, Baumann Bus Company management will be meeting tomorrow to negotiate with their employees. The Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting for tomorrow, 11/14, to convene at 6:30 PM at Freeport High School to discuss the Baumann Bus strike and the district's various options. The meeting will begin with an open session and possibly adjourn to an executive session for advice from our legal counsel pertaining to a litigation matter. Subsequent to the executive session, the Board will reconvene to discuss the transportation situation and district options. As with all Board meetings, the public is invited to attend.
If there are any changes, we will let you know prior to the Board meeting. Although we have made arrangements to help alleviate the transportation issues through the assistance of another bus company, we understand that there may still be inconveniences until the entire matter is resolved. We appreciate your continued cooperation and patience. Please feel free to continue to use our extended building hours.
Baumann Transportation Strike Update 11-12-17 - Revised 12:30PM
The Baumann Bus Company strike is continuing. The next negotiations are not until Tuesday November 14th. The district has been pursuing alternatives to provide transportation.
At this time we will be able to offer limited busing effective Monday, November 13th, as follows:

Columbus, New Visions Schools -- Busing will be regular scheduled times for Columbus and New Visions through Baumann Bus Company.

Bayview Avenue, Archer Street, and Giblyn Schools - Busing will be covered through the Guardian Bus Company with a 15 minute delay in arrival and dismissal times. This means the bus will pick up and drop off your child 15 minutes later than the regular schedule. It is recommended you arrive at the bus stop at your regularly scheduled time. Walkers should continue to follow their regular schedule. A separate robocall will be sent from Archer, Bayview and Giblyn with further information.

Atkinson, Dodd, and Freeport High School - These schools will not have transportation available until further notice, we ask you to please use your alternative transportation plans for your child.

Kellenberg Memorial High School, Freeport Christian Academy and De La Salle School - Buses will be available through First Student Bus Company with no delays.

The negotiations held between Baumann Bus Company management and the drivers' union on 11/10 did not reach resolution and the strike is continuing. The district has been pursuing alternatives to provide transportation.
At this time, we will be able to offer limited busing through the Guardian Bus Company. Effective Monday November 13th, we will cover bus routes for Bayview Avenue, Archer Street, and Giblyn Schools with a 15 minute delay in arrival and dismissal times. This means the bus will pick up and drop off your child 15 minutes later than the regular schedule. However, it is recommended you arrive at the bus stop at your regularly scheduled time.
Buses will also be available for students attending Kellenberg Memorial High School, Freeport Christian Academy and De La Salle School through First Student Bus Company with no delays.
For schools without transportation available, we ask you to please use your alternative transportation plans for your child. We will continue to maintain the early arrival and late dismissal times in all buildings until further notice.

This is a reminder that the Baumann Bus Company drivers are on strike and there will be no transportation this afternoon. We ask you to use your alternative plans to pick up your child from school. Although we urge you to make every attempt to pick up your child at normal dismissal times, we understand this may not be possible. For those students who would normally be bused, the buildings will have extended hours with staff available until 5:30 PM.
Due to Election Day, students do not report to school tomorrow. We have been notified the Baumann Bus Company management and the drivers' union will be meeting tomorrow evening. If there is no resolution after that meeting, the bus strike will continue. We will update our website and you will receive a robocall tomorrow evening regarding transportation information for Wednesday.

We have been notified that Baumann bus drivers will be on strike tomorrow 11/6/17. This strike will impact our in-district schools, Kellenberg Memorial HS, Freeport Christian Academy and De La Salle School. It does not apply to students attending other out-of-district schools including BOCES. Please use your alternative plans to transport your child to and from school. Some drivers may decide not to strike, but there is no way for us to determine what buses may be available.

The negotiations meeting held on 11/1/17 between Baumann Bus Company and its drivers did not reach an agreement. Another meeting is scheduled for November 10, 2017.
We will update you on this situation if we receive any new information. In the event of an actual strike, you will receive a robocall and information will be posted on the website as soon as we are informed.
Potential Transportation Strike Update 11/1/17
As of this time, we have no further information regarding the potential strike by Baumann Bus Company drivers. A mediation meeting is being held today between the bus company and the bus drivers' union. Further information may be available after this time.
Although we are hopeful that a resolution be found, we continue to urge you to be prepared for alternative transportation options to get your child to and from school in the case of a strike. We will continue to keep you updated on this situation. In the event of an actual strike, you will receive a robocall and information will be posted to the website.
Potential Transportation Strike Update 10/31/17
Per a conversation with the attorney for the Baumann Bus drivers' union, we were notified that a strike will not take place yet. We have requested at least a 48 hour notification in the event of a strike so we can be prepared. A mediation meeting between Baumann Bus Company and the bus drivers' union is scheduled for tomorrow.
We ask you to continue to be prepared with alternative transportation arrangements for your child in case of a strike in the future. In the event of a strike, early drop-off and late pick-up times will be announced as needed.
