Mrs. Gabrus and Mrs. Correnti's second-grade class at Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School have been busy writing letters to pen pals in Canada, after participating in the Global Read Aloud initiative from October to November.

For this worldwide initiative, the class connected with a second-grade class in Winnipeg, Canada, through SeeSaw. Both classes read "A Boy Called Bat" by Elana K. Arnold and also enjoyed interacting through a video chat. The purpose of this was to increase reading among students.

After completing the Global Read Aloud, the two classes decided to continue their connection and become pen pals. Each student wrote a letter to another student in Canada and recently received their first letters back. They plan to write back and forth a few more times before the end of the year.
