Atkinson Intermediate School's sixth grade Select Mariachi Band received a standing ovation during their performance at the Long Island Teachers' Institute Amplifying Language Instruction for ELLS: Advanced Literacies for Critical Conversation. Students offered an impeccable and memorable performance to the crowd of 550 educators.
The event was held at the Melville Marriot and was presented by the Long Island Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network at Eastern Suffolk BOCES and the New York State Education Department Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages.
