The high school gymnasium was filled with proud parents, district staff, administrators and members of the board of education, as the school's Navy Junior ROTC held its annual Inspection and Battalion Parade. This year's membership has climbed to 248 members, with last year's company consisting of 220 members.
Students performed their drills before the board of education, administrators, local war veterans and families. Students passed their inspection, which was conducted by retired U.S. Navy Commander and NJROTC Area Four Manager Jimmie Miller.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham thanked students, parents and families for their support, and then addressed the cadets and expressed that they are all amazing individuals.
"All the 21st Century skills that education calls for are all happening within the NJROTC program: problem-solving, creative thinking, emotional intelligence and so forth," Dr. Kuncham said. "That's what this program is about. You live up to that every single day by becoming and making all those great qualities a part of your life and by being the present and future leaders, not only for America but for this global society."
