Atkinson School sixth grade students and the Atkinson Step Team adopted a military unit serving overseas this Valentine's Day.
The students worked with Ms. Nina Sasso, Ms. Daria Jackson and Ms. Gabriela Farruggio to create individual and unique cards personally addressed to each of the 131 soldiers to thank them for their courage and to wish them a Happy Valentine's Day.
Each individualized gift bag included candy, gum and a handmade bracelet that the students crafted. It was a real labor of love and all of the students were so happy and honored to work on this project.
The gift bags were really appreciated by the whole unit and the school will be staying in touch with the soldiers until they complete their tour overseas.
