Archer Street School kicked off its Read Across America celebration with its #Freeportreads assembly and revealed this year's theme of kindness.
The week continued with guest speakers from the school community including district administrators. Archer Street School Principal Paula Lein read Chelsea Clinton's "She Persisted" during the schools Read Across America celebration. It was a great way for the students to learn about the people who help make their education as safe and as caring as possible. Favorite books were shared as well and students were treated to some fun literacy related activities.
In addition, Operation Splash Mentors visited second grade classrooms to read aloud their own book "Footsie and Lunko." The week ended with a pajama day assembly, featuring the Bierkos, a husband and wife team who brought musical storytelling to the students.
