Giblyn’s SOUPer students donate 700+ food items

For the 5th consecutive year, Leo F. Giblyn Elementary took part in the SOUPer Bowl food drive as the culminating event to their Great Kindness Challenge.

Facilitated by the Giblyn Spirit Committee, the Great Kindness Challenge took place during the first week of February and tasked students with completing acts of kindness at home and in-school, ending with the SOUPer Bowl as their final act of caring for others.

Students were asked to bring in non-perishable food items and place them under the logo for the team they hoped would win the big game. The school collected 723 total food items in a single day for Freeport Outreach and predicted the Kansas City Chiefs would be the winner. While their predicted team did not win, the Giblyn SOUPer Bowl food drive took another step to defeating hunger during a critical time when charities are in great need of community support and donations.
