Posted on 06/21/2020

On June 20, 2020, Freeport High School celebrated the Class of 2020 with a unique graduation ceremony. The COVID-19 pandemic has made for many changes of typical rituals. The 127th Commencement was held in the parking lot of the Nassau Coliseum as a drive-in movie experience. Graduates attended in their decorated cars. Freeport Public Schools Board of Education, Administration, and dignitaries were present as well for this momentous occasion. The ceremony featured both live remarks from the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kishore Kuncham, Freeport High School Principal Joseph Mille, Class President Lesly-Hannah Gutierrez, Valedictorian Sheilly Duque and Salutatorian Rosa Medina followed by a video recording of the Class of 2020 receiving their diplomas. After the video Senior Class Assistant Principal Gisselle Campbell-Ham spoke to the graduates prior to their official certification and the turning of their tassels. It was an amazing evening celebrating our resilient graduates as they move forward to their bright futures.
