Dear Freeport Families,

I hope you are all well and enjoying the long, warm days of Summer. Since last March, the COVID-19 pandemic stretched our community, families and our schools to the limits. Yet, we remained Freeport Strong and finished the year with virtual celebrations of the hard work put forth by all. We have been planning for the reopening of our schools for the 2020-2021 school year as we awaited the guidelines of the New York State Education Department (NYSED). These guidelines, released finally on July 16, 2020, along with the guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH) have been instrumental in our planning for health, safety and instruction. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff guides our Reopening Plan. Our Reopening Plan contains detailed information on Health and Safety, Facilities, Nutrition, Transportation, Social Emotional Well-being, School Schedules, Budget & Fiscal, Attendance & Chronic Absenteeism, Teaching & Learning, and Staffing & Human Resources. The plan will be submitted as required to NYSED and available on our district website upon submission today. As you may know, the Governor will make a decision regarding the reopening of schools between August 1 and August 7, 2020.
