Students at Archer Street School learned about the rich history and traditions as they celebrated the five days of Diwali also known as the festival of lights. During morning announcements, a student, who celebrates this holiday, shared information about the significance of each of the five days of Diwali. In addition, the school's librarian shared resources and lesson suggestions for all teachers.
Students in Ms. Toledo's second grade class interviewed Ms. Ali, a class parent, about Diwali. She shared many interesting facts, traditions and stories. Following her presentation, students created their own diyas, which are lamps lit especially during Diwali to signify purity, goodness, good luck and power.
