Message from the Superintendent - Updated Information regarding Mask Wearing Requirements
Posted on 06/08/2021

Dear Freeport Families,

As a follow up to our last communications regarding the wearing of masks in school, and in accordance with the latest guidance from the CDC and NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH), we will no longer require masks to be worn outdoors on school grounds. This will apply to recess, physical education classes and outdoor sports. If you feel your child should still wear a mask or face covering outside, please encourage them to do so.

At this time, according to NYSDOH guidance, masks are still required to be worn in all indoor areas including on the school bus, and students, staff and visitors must put them on before entering any of the buildings. All students will be required to wear masks during arrival and dismissal times and while on the school bus. Please note at this time mask requirements for commencement activities have not been changed.

The health and safety of our staff and students is still our first priority. We will continue to monitor any revisions from the NYSDOH and keep you updated with information.

Regards,

Dr. Kishore Kuncham
