Maker Space Inspires Student’s Creativity
Posted on 03/11/2022

Second grade students at Bayview Avenue Elementary School put their creativity and imaginations to the test working in the school's Maker Space Morning Program.

As part of this engaging learning experience, students develop and refine their 21st century skills including collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking by engaging in various engineering and design process challenges. Students expand their critical thinking and problem solving skills by tinkering and building using materials such as LEGO sets, Magna-Tiles, connecting rods and even programming robots.

In one activity, students designed their own mazes made from carboard, tubes, straws and tape and uniquely designed marbles. The students tested their designs, reflected on ways to improve their original designs and refined their designs to create their finished products.
