Bringing Women's History Month to a close, Freeport High School students listened to the experiences of several local professionals and appointed officials during a series of assemblies focused on sharing the stories of successful women to inspire students in their own journeys.

The assemblies, which took place at different periods throughout the day, featured

Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby and Legislator Debra Mulé who spoke to students about their careers as elected officials, NYU Langone Hospital Dr. Sandy Dorcelus, Freeport's school-based nurse practitioners, Ms. Gina Galante and Ms. Caitlin Ennis, RN who spoke to students about working in the medical field, and Ms Carolina Fortuna, Freeport High School Alumni and fashion designer who spoke to students about the struggles and triumphs of working in the fashion industry.

During Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby's presentation, she awarded Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham, Board President Maria Jordan-Awalom, High School Principal Giselle Campbell-Ham, Assistant Principal Michael Campiglia, and the high school's Women's Committee Zoraya Bussey and Silvia Fernández with certificates for supporting women and celebrating Women's History Month.

While each speaker shared their experiences in their respective fields, they also expressed the importance of celebrating Women's History Month and why recognizing and honoring the ongoing victories for women's rights is crucial to the future. Following each presentation, students were able to ask questions, take photos and share their own experiences about their interests for future career paths.
