On November 29, the Dodd Middle School Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee met to celebrate and discuss the work that FPS and the Middle School have done over the years to include cultural responsiveness in their curriculum and throughout the building. In addition, the Committee was led in a discussion by Dr. Ballard, DEI Director, and Ms. Ligondé, Principal, to share out their personal experiences surrounding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Collectively, the Committee identified short term and long-term goals which include representation of multiple perspectives across the curriculum, connecting to students lives, continuing to identify and celebrate the various cultures of the student population, encourage more student voices, and continuing to educate through morning announcements and other outlets within the building.
The Dodd Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is made up of staff members from Dodd who have committed to being changemakers and further drive the building and district’s DEI initiatives.
