TRANSITIONAL SERVICES

P. Desatnick

Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year. My name is Ms. Patricia Desatnick and I am the Transitional Coordinator at Freeport High School. Our Team works very hard to make sure that your child is ready for the next step, the Transition to Adulthood. My office is located in the Guidance Suite. Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns (867-5300, ext. 4217). Looking forward to a fantastic year!!

PROSPER
The Prosper program has really grown. This year, we have 33 students participating (Day and Twilight). The bus leaves each day from Freeport High School traveling to either a college campus or a company or trade school in Nassau County. We also have two new teachers - Lee Noisette and Kathleen Finley. Good luck to the PROSPER class of 2017/2018!

ACCES-VR (Adult Career and Continuing Education Services)
Our counselor, Donna Rapena, has already started her visits. Every graduating senior will be scheduled for a private meeting throughout the year. Applications have been distributed in the senior English classes.

CEI (Career Employment Institute)
This year, our program has a new coordinator, Yancar Espinosa. Ms. Espinosa has created many new worksites, including the Outback, Home Depot, The Cradle of Aviation Museum and Toys R Us Express. We will be returning to Stop & Shop, Applebee’s, Burlington, Wal-Mart, Baldwin Coach Diner, TGIF and AHRC.

We also have six students in our full day ETP (Employment Training Program). These students work from 9:30 to 1:30, at the different sites mentioned above: Demetris Eustache, Andrew Gaynor, Patrick Morrison, Kimberly Nova, Christen Vargas-Edney and Steven Ventura. They are truly a TERRIFIC CREW!!

After-School Services
We will be starting Travel Training, Job Coaching and Peer Buddies shortly - more info to follow.

PATH (Parents as Transitional Helpers)
PATH meetings are designed to help parents learn about Adult Services as well as current services in the High School for their child. These meetings take place in the FHS Library at 6:30 p.m. The meeting schedule will be sent shortly.
