Caroline G. Atkinson Celebrating Success

Celebrating Success Award Recipient Stephanie Arnell

Atkinson music teacher Stephanie Arnell is being recognized for her energy and tireless commitment to her craft. Her passion for teaching is apparent, and she shares a profound love for the district and community. She has taught at Atkinson since 2013, and began her career in Freeport at Columbus in 2002.

Ms. Arnell, who is a Freeport High School alum, has transformed Atkinson’s chorus and music education classes. She also consistently integrates the ELA module work into her music lessons, and has incorporated a drum stick station into her classroom by winning a NEFCU teacher grant in 2015. In 2016, she was invited to present at the Sound, Body and Mind Conference at Molloy College.

Ms. Arnell, who studied music at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, holds a master’s degree in music theory from the University of Kansas. She offers private tutoring lessons in a variety of instruments and also serves as a judge at NYSSMA competitions.
